Welfare Activities 

¡Industrial Tour : A team consisting of two officers and Staff Council members were deputed to visit DMW/Patiala to gather knowledge of implementation of Group Incentive Scheme in the Production Unit.¡

Employees’ Holiday Camp : Employees Holiday Camp was successfully conducted In Bangaluru, Mysore and Ooty. The camp was conducted in the month of February.¡

Staff Benefit Fund:¡Constitution of SBF Committee is as follows: Chairman     : Dy. CPO(W) Elected members  : Six Staff Council members Nominated members : Dy. FAA&CAO, AO/Accounts, AWO , APO(SF)¡

Welfare Activities covered under SBF:  Education : (i) Technical Scholarship @ Rs.200/- per month is granted in favour of 75 students  (ii) BidhanLokamanya Scholarship to meritorious students (iii) Grant for Book bank 

Recreation and Amusement : Grant from SBF is also give to (i) CLW Sports association, (ii)  CLW Cultural Association, (iii) Children Education Tour, (iv) Officer’s Club, (v) Employees Holiday camp, (vi) Area Committee, (vii) Grant to K.G. Hospital for purchase of periodical & books (viii)  School sports. 

Relief & Distress : (i) Dental Laboratory, (ii) Homeopathy Dispensary, (iii) Self Sickness. 

Miscellaneous : Grant to (i) Bharat Scouts and Guides, (ii) Funeral Expenses to deceased  Railway family, (iii) Grant to Sur-O-Bani, Suranjana for promoting cultural activities.¡

Canteen : There are two Canteens functioning in CLW. One is Statutory and the other one is Non-Statutory. Statutory Canteen (Works canteen) is functioning in the vicinity of Workshop while Non-Statutory Canteen (Administrative Office canteen) is functioning in the Administrative Office of GM’s office.¡

Institute : There are four Institutes functioning in Chittaranjan , They are Basanti Institute, Srilata Institute. Aurobinda Institute and Saratchandra Institute ¡

Co-operative Society : One Co-operative Credit Society is also functioning in CLW. ¡

Women Welfare Organisation : CLW-Women’s Welfare Organisation is functioning in Chittaranjan. The organisation is running various Welfare Centres viz. ‘Masala Centre’, ‘File Centre’, ‘ShishuVihar’a preparatory school, ‘AshaKiran’ a school for special children, ‘Boat Club’ and ‘UpharShishuUdyan’, ‘Lalit Kala Mandir’ a handicraft centre, ‘Student’s Library’ etc. The organisation also organise various welfare programmes such as ‘On the Spot Drawing & Painting Competition’, “On the spot Essay Competition”, “ Healthy Baby Show”, “Prize Distribution Programme for meritorious students”, ¡

Grievance Redressal Machinery: A team of efficient and devoted Staff & Welfare Inspectors are engaged for redressing the grievances of the staff and families of CLW. In this connection grievance boxes and complaint registers are kept in shop offices of shops and Staff & Welfare Inspectors visit each shop twice in a week and note down the grievances from the complaint register kept in the Shop office in their contact cum note book, in addition to meeting the staff on their place of workshop in order to mitigate the grievance of the staff. Staff & Welfare Inspectors after noting the grievances interacts with the concerned addressee for disposal of the grievances and action so taken are being endorsed in the complaint register for the information of the staff. In addition to this, staff are at liberty to meet with Establishment Officer/AWO/Dy.CPO(W) on any working day in connection with the redressal of their grievances. ¡

Retired Railway Employee’s Grievance: Dy.CPO(W) meet with the retired Rly. Employee in his chamber on every Friday in a week. A complaint registered for this purpose is kept with the In-charge/Welfare Section/Dy.CPO(W)’s office in which details of interview with Dy.CPO(W)’s are entered and prompt action is taken and retired employee are intimated about the disposal of the grievances.¡

SBF GRANTS:  The following grants are also sanctioned to the staff under Staff Benefit Fund to the staff and their family members as staff welfare measures on various heads as mentioned below:-¡

Education: Each financial year Technical/BidhanLokmany and Non-Technical Scholarship are sanctioned to the wards of the Railway employees for prosecuting technical and non-technical education on Degree/Diploma/ Graduation and Post-Graduate level from SBF. Details are given below: 15 New Scholarship in order are merit are sanctioned @Rs.400/- p.m. for Technical/BidhanLokmanya and Non-Technical Scholarship in addition to the previous existing renewal scholarship till completion of their courses.  A part of this 60 Nos. one time grant for Technical, 60 Nos. one time grant for BidhanLokmanya and 50 Nos. one time grant for Non-Technical are also provided to the ward of railway employees @Rs.3000/- each. ¡

Sports: Grant from SBF is made to the Fund to CLW Sports Association and CLW Schools and CLW Institution. An amount of Rs.2, 99, 380/- has been provided for CLWSA, and Rs.10, 000/- each are also provided for sports activities of School and Railway Institutes.¡

Cultural Activities: Funds Rs.1, 25,000/- has been provided to CLW CA and Rs, 10, 000/- each for CLW Institutes and Cultural Institutes. An amount Rs.2, 80, 000/- for eight areas and Rs. 4, 50, 000/- has also been provided for four Institutes.

Excursion trip to CLW employee: Holiday Camp under the SBF was held at Bangalore, Mysore & Ooty. 37 railways staff has participate the Holiday Camp and Rs.1, 75, 000/- has been released for this purpose. An amount of Rs.2, 00, 000/- has also been earmarked for the grant for SBF for children education tour during financial year 2011-12.¡

Relief of Distress: Grant from SBF under the scheme of employee suffering from TB/Cancer/Leprosy & other sickness is provided to the staff and their family grant to the employee and their family referred to out station duties including cancer for further treatment of Mumbai/Chennai/Delhi and Perambur is also provided.  An amount of Rs.5000/- per case as Funeral expenses has been granted to the family member of the deceased employee and fund has been provided for this purpose.¡

Purchase of Spectacles: An amount of Rs.2, 50, 000/- has been earmarked for 2011-12 for grant of Rs.500/- each to the staff upto the grade pay of Rs.4200/- is also provided.¡

Running of Homeo Dispensary: Two Homeo physicians have been engaged under SBF on honorarium as prescribed by to Railway board for entire CLW township and one Homoeo physician for Kolkata staff are engaged for treatment of railway employees and their family members for Kolkata employees of CLW. An amount of Rs. 6, 40,213/- have been provided for this purpose in the year 2011-12.¡

Dental Prosthetic Lab: One Dental mechanics has been engaged by SBF. An amount Rs.1,25,631/- has been provided for this purpose in the year 2011-12.¡

Women empowerment: An amount of Rs.3, 44, 287/- has been provided for womens empowerment activities including higher education of girls and Rs.4,04,163/- has been provided for training for development of occupational skill of physically/mentally challenged children. Funds is spent through CLW-WWO in the year 2011-12.¡

Scouting activities: Fund amounting Rs.2,02,081/- has been provided for gearing up scouting activities for CLW Railway employees.¡

Canteen: A statutory and Non-statutory canteen is running in CLW to provide the nutritious palatable Tiffin and meals to the staff of CLW.
